Strategic Partnership Announcement: Building Wildfire Resilience at Loziba

We are proud to announce a collaboration between Inner Group, Loziba Wildlife Reserve, and the Human Elephant Foundation to establish a professional wildfire management capability in KwaZulu-Natal.

Climate-driven wildfire risk is escalating across Southern Africa. Loziba’s remote location requires a structured, self-reliant response model grounded in planning, training, and innovation that benefits not only the reserve but also surrounding farmland and rural communities.

This initiative includes:

• Development of a comprehensive, landscape-specific Wildfire Management Plan

• On-site capacity building and scenario-based wildfire responder training

• Introduction and pilot of GreenCAFS, a low-pressure compressed-air foam system that reduces water use by up to 90%

• Strategic mapping of high-risk zones and operational access routes across Loziba’s 8,500 hectares

• A Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning framework to measure impact and scalability

GreenCAFS, designed for water-scarce and remote environments, represents a significant step forward in first-response capability for conservation landscapes, farmland, and rural communities.

Beyond wildfire mitigation, this partnership protects biodiversity, safeguards tourism infrastructure, strengthens local employment pathways, and contributes to climate–peace–security stability in the region.

This is more than equipment deployment. It is institutional capacity building.
